America, you can apparently just suck it.
We’re definitely used to missing out on just about everything cool from China. All the cheap EVs. All the affordable supercars that can jump and parallel park and hit 60 miles per hour in 2 seconds. Even the cute little cars. All of it.
But now we’re definitely being kicked while we’re down. Polestar recently announced that it’s leaving the U.S. market after President Donald Trump’s over-the-top Connected Vehicle Rule that targets China. Per usual. Most drivers weren’t that upset. I mean, not many people were buying Polestar models out here. And Polestar wasn’t worried either. Most of its sales were over in Europe.
Now, Polestar has finally revealed a sick concept that Americans would actually want. Too late.
Polestar’s “bold evolution”
Polestar recently announced its “largest model offensive yet,” which obviously is after it left the United States. Of course. This includes the Polestar 5 grand tourer, which looks sweet, and the new Polestar 4 SUV and Polestar 7. There’s also a new generation of the Polestar 2. And yeah, all these numbers mean nothing.
But the real bummer is seeing the Formula 2030. This concept car represents Polestar’s 2030 strategy, including an entirely new design language. This includes the upcoming Polestar 7 and Polestar 2, which makes them feel even more promising.
The Formula 2030 is mostly hidden in shadows, but it looks aggressive and low to the ground, a lot sportier than past models. Wide performance tires can also be seen below the front fenders. The headlights look almost sinister. It’s just a way different vibe for Polestar. It’s the kinda electric vehicle that actually looks cool rather than an uninspiring shell around an infotainment center. We wanna see more.
We want this kinda thing in America, damnit.
“Polestar’s design and brand are already so strong, it was obvious we needed a bold evolution, not a revolution of what came before,” said Philipp Romers. “Formula 2030 delivers this, showcasing our future while respecting brand-defining elements like the familiar Dual Blade headlights, ensuring it remains recognizably a Polestar with a strong, characterful identity.”
For now, the Formula 2030 will be shown at Polestar’s headquarters in Sweden, called The Cube. Investors, retailers, and the like can check it out. It will make its global deubt when the Polestar 4 SUV has its first media drive.
It’s an exciting time for Polestar. And another blow to the United States. Guess it’s back to dwelling on Ford’s ugly, boring electric pickup truck. No sporty EVs for us! In fact, we may not even get sedans quite soon if the administration continues as it is.
