I think this is the most dramatic featured image you’ll find for a listing on Bring a Trailer.

It’s not every day you see a flame-throwing, mini-gun-wielding car on Bring a Trailer, but there’s a special reason this vehicle has been so intensely modified. It’s a 2006 Aston Martin DB9 that’s meant to pay homage to James Bond. And it very well may be the most Bond-like car you can buy. Well, if you’re able to buy it.

This 007 spy-mobile is from a custom shop in Tampa, Florida, and is equipped with the Holley Terminator X engine management system. The engine has been swapped for a 6.2-liter LS3 V8, and there’s a Corvette-sourced four-speed automatic transaxle. The body was repainted in Skyfall Silver, featuring aluminum and composite body panels mounted to an extruded aluminum spaceframe.

Perhaps most dramatically, however, is the grille. It can tilt forward on hinged brackets to reveal a dual mini-gun setup that shoots flames. This is fueled by propane and oxygen gas. The vehicle has a bracket added to the rear subframe to hold smoke canisters, activated separately. You can check it out here; it definitely looks just as insane in action.

A CarFax report found an accident where the vehicle was considered a total loss, but multiple salvage titles and a rebuild title later, and you’re looking at a pristine Bond car.

This Bond vehicle may be off-limits for some states

This seems like the perfect car to drive around Hollywood, given the inspiration behind the build. However, you likely can’t register this vehicle in California. And it’s not for the reason you may think.

The mini-guns may seem like the culprit of such a ban, but it’s actually the engine swap. California has tight laws for engine swaps. The engine must be from the same vehicle class and retain 100% of the factory emissions equipment. Oftentimes, the swap has to be approved by a BAR referee. You’ll need to get a smog test, too. Most engine swaps won’t pass, but Redditors were quick to point out that you can get away with an engine swap if you know a smog guy who will pass you. And even then, you’d have to never be pulled over, or they could find out you’re driving an “illegal” car.

And don’t even think about registering your vehicle in Montana to avoid the smog situation. California has become very paranoid about all the Montana plates after a massive investigation revealed a bunch of supercar shops doing this to avoid California’s crazy taxes on million-dollar vehicles. Again, you may be overlooked. But in a car with fake guns in the grille? It’s a risk. Still, it could be worth it for those who want that blend of classy European, American muscle, and Bond theatrics.

Said one comment: “This is awesome, and dangerous. Could you imagine unleashing this on someone who’s road-raging at you? It could lead to a lot of soiled undergarments, but potentially to the return of live fire, at least in the deep south. Would also probably lead to some ‘interesting’ discussions with law enforcement and judges…and potential incarceration. Best to leave the cannons for car shows, I think. If I owned this and let my wife drive it, she would be in jail in 24 hours. LOL.”

Another simply said: “What a phenomenal use of free will by the seller. This is too fun!”

There are six days left. The vehicle is currently at $22,222. Even if you can’t buy this vehicle yourself, it’ll be fun to see the mayhem unfold this next week.
