Ford has unveiled its latest collaboration with outdoor clothing supplier Filson. On the one hand, many of the new features are cosmetic. On the other, the new trim arguably combines the best of the Ford Bronco lineup to create the ultimate Ford off-roader.
While attending Ford’s announcement that there would be an announcement regarding the new SUV, we speculated that a new color would be available for the vehicle. This was based on the limited number of vehicle-related items around at the pre-unveiling, namely a Jerry can and a spare tire cover, both clad in the paint.
Apparently we were correct. The name of the color in question is “Field Green Metallic,” though that isn’t the only exclusive paint option offered by Ford. An ultra-exclusive “Iron Sands Copper Metallic” exterior color is available to those ordering a “Bronco Filson First Edition.” Other colors available include: Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, and Oxford White.
But the Bronco Filson is more than just a paintjob. That first edition exclusive also includes a unique fender badge, a custom serialized console badge commemorating the Ford x Filson collaboration, and Filson-inspired cargo storage bags.
As previously suggested, the Filson’s interior contains several links to the iconic clothing brand. Much like Ford’s recent collaboration with Carhartt sees a good number of workwear-inspired touches make it into the interior of some F-Series trucks.
The SUV’s interior is “inspired by Filson’s legendary outdoor palettes and textures” featuring perforated, quilted leather and durable woven fabric seat trim. These are inspired by the twill Filson uses to make many of its products. Leather coats the instrument panel and steering wheel, while brass accents serve to elevate that interior trim.
Both the First Edition and the regular Ford Filson feature a host of mechanical tweaks too, boosting the already capable off-roader’s abilities on the trail. But said tweaks aren’t actually new on the Filson.
Under the hood, it may be the most capable Ford Bronco
To maximize the Filson’s off and on-road capabilities, engineers have placed the same 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 you’ll find in the Bronco Raptor under its hood. In addition to the beefy Raptor engine, the vehicle features several off-road performance related additions including front and rear electronic locking differentials, high-performance Fox shocks with internal bypass technology, and 35-inch rugged-terrain tires.
The 418-horsepower V6 was previously exclusive to the Bronco Raptor, while the rest tends to be included with the “Sasquatch package” Bronco buyers can currently add to their vehicles. Including both as standard is pretty unique, and arguably singles the Filson out as the best vehicle in the modern Ford Bronco lineup.
You’ll also receive Ford’s extensive range of off-roading tools such as trail one pedal driving and trail turn assist. Which should help less confident off-roaders get more from their excursions. A “a high-strength steel ladder frame” that Ford claims is “built for this, not borrowed from elsewhere,” also features on the Filson.
According to Ford, pricing for the Bronco Filson starts in the mid-$70,000s. While the Ford Filson First Edition will have a limited run, the regular Ford Filson will be available as a trim package on the Bronco. It’s expected to hit showroom floors, and customers’ driveways, in early 2027.
