Holy… Who Hurt Alpine!? The A310 Vision is the EV Of the Future, But the US is Stuck in the Past

Alpine vehicles have never been sold in the United States, and we didn’t really care. I mean, the A390 is definitely more visually appealing and sportier than the Porsche Macan EV or Kia EV6 GT, but it’s fine.

Back in January 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show, Alpine claimed the A390 was “being launched at a pivotal moment as the brand expands in an all-new sector.” It was meant to show off a new “emotional sportiness, rooted in competition and innovation.” I mean, it sounds nice, but it’s just an SUV at the end of the day. I know some people who love a good performance SUV, but I think the U.S. already has enough of those. And I’m sorta over it.

But Alpine apparently had other things in mind for 2026 that coincide with this new sportiness. And now I’m a bit jealous.

Alpine has been working on a four-seat electric sports car that could have been a callback to the wedge-shaped A310 from the 1970s. But CEO Philippe Krief decided it should be completely modern. And it honestly looks like nothing else out there.

The A310 Vision honestly looks cooler than basically every supercar out there, with headlights that pop down from the front end when you start the car, advanced aerodynamic design elements, a two-piece rear wing with transparent portions, and blade-shaped taillights. In my opinion, it sorta does look like the A310 from the 70s, just completely upgraded for the future.

While the A310 Vision is unfortunately a one-off concept car, it was built on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP). This means we could possibly see something like this from Alpine in the future. Maybe just not as dramatic. A press release regarding the A310 Vision states: “Alpine A310 Vision demonstrates Alpine’s ability to reinterpret its heritage without nostalgia. Drawing on the possibilities offered by the APP platform, it opens up a new field of creative exploration to imagine the Alpine sports cars of tomorrow.”

So… No A310 Vision then? Well, not so fast. Krief did mention a possible small run of the stunning EV: “You do not do this kind of car to make money: except Ferrari, nobody is making money.”

I think Alpine is realistically not making something this sick. But it does make us really curious what the brand is thinking. And if we will ever get to experience any of it.

Alpine had record-breaking global sales in 2025, with 10,970 vehicles sold. That’s a 139.2% increase compared to 2024. With so much success, I’m not sure Alpine will wanna mess with the United States, where we currently have a ton of politics and tariffs costing automakers a fortune.

This will be yet another stylish EV that we can’t have, leaving us with Tesla, Rivian, and eventually the Slate and Ford Fathom. Not the sexiest lineup.
