Automakers love their pickup trucks. Not only is the market showing a rapidly growing interest in trucks, but expensive trucks. And this is great news because trucks have an amazing profit margin due to the plethora of high trims and added features that Americans love. And nobody knows more about trims than Ford.

The Ford F-150 has a ton of trims that I can honestly not even keep track of. If you want to put it simply, you’re looking at eight trims. The XL is standard, then comes the STX and XLT, the most popular model. The Lariat follows, offering some pluksh features. Then we’re getting into the specialty models that cost even more. The Tremor is good for casual off-roading, the King Rach has styling and upgrades inspired by the Western aesthetic, Platinum is as luxurious as it gets (think quilted leather massaging seats), and Raptor is the high-performance off-roading option.

But it goes beyond that. There’s also a wide range of Raptors, including the Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor and Raptor R. The Baja Raptor saw updates in 2024, adding more exterior and interior options, as well as improved suspension and engine upgrades. Then the Shelby F-150 Off-Road, a Raptor R alternative, arrived in 2026. Okay, you following? This brings is to the 2026 Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor, which has just been given some notable upgrades once more.

The 2026 Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor R is insane

The biggest update to the 2026 version? More power.

The 2026 Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor can have the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost or supercharged 5.2L V8, both of which have improved output. And we don’t just mean some little upgrade here. The V6 model has 100 more horsepower than stock, for a total of 550 horsepower. It also comes with a lightweight hood with a hood scoop, 18-inch two-tone wheels, 37-inch mud-terrain tires, a heat shield, a nine-pod power-actuated Vision X LED light bar, and tire mounts. It also has a Shelby grille and fenders, rock guards, a high-clearance front bumper, full-body stripes, and Shelby badges. The interior has leather seat covers, carbon fiber accents, embroidered floor mats, and special badges.

These same upgrades come to the V8 version. But this model also has a Whipple supercharger and extra cooling, reaching over 1,000 horsepower. On a truck.

This actually makes it the third-most-horsepower in a factory truck, even beating the Cybertruck. The only pickup trucks ahead of the Baja Raptor are the Rivian R1T Quad-Motor at 1,025 (which it very well could be over) and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup at 1,160. Does a truck need this much horsepower? No. Do we want a truck with this much horsepower? Yes, until I heard the price tag.

The V6-powered Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor will be $146,795 and the Raptor R (the V8 version) starts at $194,795. That’s practically $200,000 for a truck once you add the destination fee. If you want to really show off that you have money to waste on an overpriced truck, this is the one. And at least it’s actually capable of off-roading. Not that people likely take their six-figure truck off-roading.

Said one Reddit user: “Buy a regular Raptor and do Raptor s***. Shelby doesn’t add anything to a regular Raptor other than show everyone who does Raptor s***, that you do not do Raptor s***.”

Added another: “If you’re going to drive only on the roads and mall crawl, sure, go with the Shelby, but if you plan to off-road at all, then don’t, you’ll rip the bed, and it’s just a truck that’s less capable than upgrading a regular Raptor.”

Said Shelby: “Every Shelby Raptor receives a unique Shelby Serial number that goes with every build, along with its inclusion in the company registry. Original owners also get a free 1 year membership to Team Shelby.”

For $200K? What a steal.

If you’re feeling cheap, you can wait for Ford’s upcoming electric pickup, which is said to be $30,000 and looks a lot more basic.
