Lucid is adding free features to the Gravity without raising its price… but one quote from the company changes everything

The Lucid Gravity was named 2026 World Luxury Car of the Year by the World Car Awards program. But that wasn’t the only news from the 2026 New York Auto show, the EV manufacturer already has plans to add more to the Gravity’s Touring and Grand Touring trims.

My colleague Dave McQuilling is luckily enough (or crazy enough, I don’t know) to be at the New York International Auto Show and had the chance to speak with Lucid’s Air and Gravity Product & Pricing Manager, Rob Whitley, about the automaker’s plans for the Gravity going forward. It seems that Lucid wants to offer even more to customers buying either the Touring or Grand Touring trim, based on purchasing trends. The goal? Simplify their offerings and reduce complexity.

Most buyers opted to add DreamDrive 2 Premium, Lucid’s mid-tier advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), to their Lucid Gravity, paying an extra $1,500 for the package. That is now included with the Lucid Gravity for no extra cost. DreamDrive 2 Premium comes with a few extra safety features, including real-time 3D visualization on the Pilot Panel and blind spot display. This was a safety component that appeared to be very important to past customers.

“On the convenience front, we have also standardized the second key fob,” Whitley added. “Our main competitor only has one key fob, and that was true for the first model year of the Gravity. But we’ve listened to our customers. Even though we will soon have a phoneless key functionality, they really wanted that second key fob.”

The Lucid Gravity Touring will still be $79,900 despite its new features. This trim offers drivers 560 horsepower and a 0 to 60 miles per hour of 4 seconds. It can charge to 200 miles in just 15 minutes, with an estimated range of 337 miles. However, there’s also the higher-trim Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, starting at $98,800. The horsepower is ramped up to 828, hitting 60 miles in 3.4 seconds. The charging time is reduced to 11 minutes, but the range increases to a whopping 450 miles. And here we were comparing the Rivian R2 and Tesla Model Y’s 330-ish miles! Of course, the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring is much more expensive.

However, it’s also getting a few more features added to that price going forward. It now has a standardized power package, including additional USB-C ports for passengers, and standardized “Orion” wheels that are now 21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear (up an inch from before). Whitley told McQuilling that you can still opt for 22 inches in the front and 23 inches in the rear as well.

The Lucid Gravity Grand Touring will also offer a $10,500 Prestige Package that includes dynamic handling features. You can also pay even more for DreamDrive 2 Pro, coming out later this year. This would give drivers Hands-Free Drive Assist, which is Lucid’s Level 2 ADAS feature, as well as Hands-Free Lane Change Assist and Curb Rash Alert. This is not to be confused with the Level 4 autonomous driving program that’s coming to its robotaxi fleet in partnership with Uber.

The Lucid Gravity’s features may become subscriptions later

Lucid’s personable AI assistant was not mentioned, since this will likely be a monthly subscription that gives you access to a personable AI voice that learns your habits and routine to better help you plan your trips, errands, and everyday tasks. The AI assistant can control car functions, like rolling down windows, and even recommend stuff to you. McQuilling found out the hard way that it won’t allow you to gamble.

There has been a lot of discourse about electric vehicles’ continued dive into “software-as-a-service,” with many automakers offering various technology features as a monthly subscription. While most drivers vehemently claim they’d never buy an EV because of this trend, General Motors recently admitted it has 13 million active subscribers. Lucid is one of the companies really charging headfirst into the technology side of things. While it’s nice to see them include a few more things with their already pricey Gravity trims, you can probably expect to pay even more per month on top of that MSRP if you want more of its tech features going forward.

McQuilling asked if Lucid would be offering monthly subscriptions for more advanced self-driving systems in the future, to which Whitley replied, “That’s something we’re exploring. We haven’t committed to what that path is yet. Though, as you probably heard in our investor day, that will be a revenue source in the future: subscriptions for certain features.”

For now, however, it’s a one-time option price. So if you wanted a luxury EV, now may be the right time to make the switch.
