- Kia is betting that America's real EV demand isn't for $50,000 luxury SUVs but for something smaller and sharper, and the EV3 arriving in late 2026 is its answer.
- The surprise is what you're getting at entry level: a 320-mile range, the EV9's angular design language, and a cockpit with Disney-to-NBA personalizable graphics — all in a package built to actually fit in a parking spot.
- Pricing hasn't been revealed yet, and that single missing detail is exactly what will determine whether the EV3 becomes the affordable EV tipping point American buyers have been waiting for or just another promising spec sheet.
America yearns for smaller, cheaper electric vehicles, and it looks like Kia is answering that call. The long-awaited Kia EV3 is coming to the United States starting in late 2026.
The United States has been begging for cheaper electric vehicles. Despite a common misconception that Americans want massively oversized luxury SUVs, automakers are starting to realize that the market is missing cost-effective options for drivers who don’t want to drop $50,000 on a new vehicle. Over the past few years, Kia enthusiasts have been wondering whether they would ever be able to trade in their larger EV9s for the EV3, which has been rumored to be coming to America on and off for a while.
“All the awesome styling of the EV9 without all the heft and large dimensions,” said one driver after a Kia EV3 was spotted in America, giving them hope in 2025.
Added another: “I rented an EV9 recently, and even the entry-level trim felt really nice. I’m excited to see if the EV3 feels just as good in a smaller package.”
Regulations and tariffs seemed to be causing a bit of a limbo for the arrival of the EV3, but it has now been confirmed.
The Kia EV3 is packed with personality and innovative tech

The EV3 is an entry-level EV SUV that offers many of the same features and amenities as the EV9, but in a smaller, cheaper package. It keeps the EV9’s futuristic, angular design and 320-mile range, but it will be much easier to drive around a city and fit into parking lots. That’s a big deal after dealing with oversized SUVs for the past decade.
“The Kia EV3 represents a bold step forward in our commitment to making electric mobility accessible to more Americans,” Eric Watson, VP of Sales Operations for Kia America, stated. “With its striking geometric design inspired by the EV9, advanced technology, and spacious interior, the EV3 brings the innovation of our EV lineup into an entry EV SUV tailored for the way U.S. customers live, work, and travel.”
The Kia EV3 blends futuristic detailing with aerodynamic styling. The small cube LED projector head lamps emphasize its broad front end, which Kia has described as having an “expressive” look. The sloping roof gives the body some movement and hidden rear door handles give it a clean aesthetic.
Inside, the cabin features a panoramic display including dual 12.2-inch displays and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. You can personalize the cockpit with dashboard graphics, including everything from Disney to the NBA to National Geographic. There’s also a voice-recognition AI assistant meant to deepen your connection to the vehicle. To add to its techie feel, the EV3 has “Vehicle to Load” functionality, allowing it to charge laptops, coffee makers, e-bikes, and more.

The Kia EV3 will be available in five trims: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT. There will be a special Nightfall black appearance package available only in the United States, featuring glossy black wheels, black emblems, and a dark gray interior. Pricing has not been announced yet, but it will be cheaper than the EV9.
Maybe this is the beginning of an EV evolution. With China bringing super-cheap, innovative EVs to Europe and Canada, America will be feeling quite envious. The Kia EV3 could be the solution.
