Over the past month, we have seen plenty of automakers take to the Nürburgring with camouflaged new models, including BMW. The latest spy photos have captured the BMW 7 Series.

This is a vehicle we’ve been seeing all over, despite BMW never sharing any information about it themselves. First, BMW’s entire 2027 lineup was leaked. The BMW 7 Series was in there amongst a whole lotta other numbers and letters. Then we saw leaked images of the BMW 7 Series that were a bit blurry and close-up. Sort of like a Bigfoot sighting. But we could make out a bold, LED-outlined kidney grille and a more angled, chiseled overall appearance.

Oh, and don’t forget the very mysterious teaser image BMW gave us. The only official information we’ve gotten.

Now, we have a lot clearer look at the highly anticipated BMW 7 Series.

BMW Series 7 spy images capture new facelift a bit clearer

The BMW Series 7 (G70 LCI) caught near the Nürburgring appears to have an international combustion engine, as indicated by the license plate. BMW’s plug-in hybrid and full-electric test vehicles usually have a plate ending with “E” over in Germany. That’s already good news, with many car enthusiasts hoping for more gas-powered options in the future. Porsche has recently confirmed that the next-generation Cayenne will offer a gas-powered option, and it seems BMW is continuing to offer it as well.

The front end of the BMW Series 7 shows a significant facelift, with a smaller grille, split headlights, a more prominent lower air intake, and horizontal slats above the slightly higher license plate. It’s still a bit obscured by the camouflage, but it lines up with the Bigfoot-esque image we got earlier. Meanwhile, the rear doesn’t seem much different from the existing Series 7, though there is a new taillight design.

Inside the Series 7, expect BMW’s iDrive x Panoramic infotainment suite across the dash. This includes a central screen and a 3D heads-up display as well. We should also see an updated version of the current Series 7’s automated driving system. The 2027 model will have a Level 2 driver assistance system, which offers hands-free driving on highways and some lane changes approved by your eye movement. The Level 3 version is being discontinued since it currently doesn’t meet regulations unless it goes through complex hardware changes.

Not much is known about the power and performance of the BMW Series 7. It won’t have a V8, but rather a B58 for the combustion engine version. The electric version, which is likely called the i7 70 xDrive, will also be released in 2027. With production coming late summer, we may learn more about the BMW Series 7 in the next few months. Some even think it could be revealed at Auto China on April 24th.
