After obsessing over spy photos of the upcoming 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, we finally got our first glimpse of the intriguing new Corvette trim at the Sebring International Raceway.

First reported by Hagerty, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport was at the racetrack for a photoshoot with Roger Penske as he awaited an upcoming race — featuring Team Penske’s Porsche 963 GTP. Still, Penske was spotted wearing a hat with Chevrolet’s photo on it, leaning against his very own Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (chassis number 001). The new C8 Corvette Grand Sport took a single lap around Sebring alongside the 001 and another Grand Sport model to create promotional images.

The first look at the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport has revealed some things

Hagerty journalists were invited to check out the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, with someone from Chevrolet confirming it’s powered by a new V8 engine. This coincides with the rumor that it’s getting the 6.7-liter naturally aspirated small-block V8 known as the LS6. This was an engine first speculated back in December 2025 when sharp-eyed enthusiasts spotted it in a leaked parts book. Hagerty predicted it produces around 550 horsepower at the time, which makes sense — the Grand Sport is the trim between the Stingray, which has 495 hp, and the Z06, which has 670 hp. Corvette execs didn’t confirm the exact engine at Sebring, however.

Okay, so not talking? That’s fine. What else could Hagerty figure out just from looking at the Grand Sport? “It exists,” Steven Cole Smith noted. Okay, but what else? It’s a wide body, as previously noticed in spy photos, including 21-inch tires and wheels in the back. It has an aggressive stance but no rear spoiler: there are two red stripes on the rear instead, which look nice with the black wheels. That all matches with the images we previously saw, but Hagerty did notice one thing that doesn’t align with a hopeful rumor: it was an automatic. Bummer.

Corvette Blogger was also there, able to confirm another previously spied feature: quad exhuast. They wrote: “The Grand Sport we spied during this preview lap confirms it will be set up with an optional quad-center exhaust system which helps to amplify the sound from the engine and provides better feedback to the driver.”

But some things are still unknown

Okay, so an important question: How much is it?

There have been rumors that Chevrolet is attempting to keep the Grand Sport under $100,000, but Hagerty didn’t find out about the price at Sebring. That’s still up in the air.

The 2027 Corvette Stingray is expected to be $70,000 to $75,000, not really increasing too much from the 2026 price. Then we have the 2027 Corvette Z06, which is likely going to be around $120,000 for the base. The Grand Sport trim is in the middle, so I think it could definitely be possible to get it under $100,000. Maybe $99,999. Just kidding, but maybe $90,000 to $100,000. The rumored Grand Sport X, which is said to have the same V8 but with an all-wheel drive system and front electric motor of the ZR1X, will be a hybrid with 721 hp and will very likely be over $100,000. Just like the E-Ray that it’s replacing.

In general, we didn’t learn anything new from the Grand Sport’s showing at Sebring. But I guess we did get some things confirmed, which is never a bad thing. Being a wide body, quad exhaust beast with a nice-sounding V8 is a good start that will most definitely keep the hype coming.
