The BMW iX7 is coming in mid-2027, and we don’t have much information about it just yet. And I think BMW wants it that way.

An Autonocion photographer recently spotted a camouflaged BMW iX7 that didn’t want to be caught on camera. When the driver saw us, they accelerated over a speed bump and had a really “I believe I can fly” moment. At least we learned the suspension is not too bad! It was definitely an exciting first look at the electric version of the X7.

Unfortunately, not much else is that exciting.

The 2027 BMW iX7 is an electric SUV that will exist

The new BMW iX7 will inject a bit of Neue Klasse design inspiration, just like the other BMWs we are getting in 2027. So, we are already pretty familiar with some of these design changes. However, the BMW iX7 is not taking the design changes as far as the BMW i3 and the like, which are smaller and targeted at younger drivers. The BMW iX7 screams “family” and it shows.

Unlike some of the newer BMWs, the iX7 is keeping its big grille and split headlights, not looking nearly as aggressive as the iX3. Paired with its bland minivan-inspired shape, I can’t say I’d notice this thing on the road if it hadn’t gone flying.

While the design is a bit dated compared to the other vehicles in the 2027 lineup, it does have new tech that could appeal to families. It has a faster-charging 800-volt, 100+ kWh battery that we expect will offer great range. The iX3 can go over 500 miles, and the iX7 has a much larger battery pack. With dual motors and all-wheel drive, it’s expected to have more than 800 horsepower, so this thing will move. I’d say it’s a selling point, but that’s sorta EVs’ thing: boring cars that accelerate fast. It will also be packed with plenty of tech inside the cabin.

BMW will offer three iX7 variants, including the top-of-the-line iX7 M70 xDrive. The price for the 2027 BMW iX7 is not known but it’s expected to be six figures, with top variants reaching $200,000.
