For the next few weeks, that is. Cadillac Vice President John Roth has confirmed that CT4 models are reaching the end of production by June 2026. The entire CT4 lineup, including the Blackwing, will only be available to order until April 20th. Cadillac is expected to reveal more about its upcoming CT5 in the coming months, but it will be a larger sedan that emphasizes luxury over performance. Cadillac’s high-performance compact sedan era seems to be coming to an end.

Cadillac has a new focus after CT4-V Blackwing goes

The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing has GM’s Alpha 2 platform (previously on the Chevrolet Camaro) and a twin-turbo V6 that delivers 472 horsepower and reaches 60 miles per hour in 4 seconds. It’s quick, nimble, and precise. Enthusiasts often pair it with a six-speed manual transmission. However, it’s still a Cadillac: expect heated front seats and a refined drive when you’re just commuting to work. Car & Driver named it one of its “10Best” of 2026, where it has been since 2022.

The review stated: “The CT4-V Blackwing is a real all-rounder. It’s athletic yet cultured. It’ll fit in any garage and fill the heart of any enthusiast.”

If you want one, you may have to act fast. There are currently 1,680 models from 2025 and 2026 sitting across U.S. dealership lots. If you have a certain configuration in mind, like grabbing a high-performance Blackwing with a manual transmission, it could be difficult to find going forward. If you can’t find a dealer with the Blackwing you want on the lot, you will have to submit a retail order for a 2026 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing ahead of April 20th.

While enthusiasts believed for a while that Cadillac had plans for another year of the CT4, it looks to be the end. For real this time. It’s an interesting move from Cadillac, which appears to be focusing on its larger SUVs and sedans. American automakers keep shifting away from smaller, cheaper offerings to bring us more oversized vehicles — despite Americans repeatedly saying they don’t want them. Mercedes was stuck with a ton of luxury EVs last month as prices keep climbing up (and salaries keep going down). Some automakers have shifted away from EVs altogether as interest wanes and competition grows.

Despite this, Cadillac is prioritizing its luxury EVs and SUVs going forward. In 2026, Cadillac introduced the IQL, the largest Escalade ever at 228.5 inches long. The starting price is over $130,400. Cadillac is aiming for an all-electric portfolio by 2030, also adding the three-row Vistiq to the lineup. Said Roth: We’re building the best Cadillacs we’ve ever built.”

I guess I’ll give them this: China is not making any 228.5-inch-long luxury EVs. They could actually have found a niche there. If anyone can afford them. It’s been a long-time misconception that Americans love these big, glitzy SUVs. But the reality is, Americans were barely even able to afford $20,000. It wasn’t due to a lack of interest or desire. They just couldn’t buy them. This made oversized SUVs look much more popular to automakers, since wealthy buyers kept purchasing them. But hey, maybe they will keep buying Escalades. If so, Cadillac could have made the right choice.

Still, seeing the CT4-V Blackwing go in exchange for these behemoths is definitely a bummer.

Cadillac is cutting off CT4-V Blackwing orders by April 20th, 2026 as the automaker shifts to larger vehicles.
