With a fastback roofline and a wide stance, the 2027 Infiniti QX65 projected a very sporty image when its covers came off in New York City. Nissan\u2019s luxury line has just unveiled the smallest SUV in its lineup, but despite the (relatively) diminutive side there seems to be a lot going on.<\/p>\n

First the styling. The new \u201cSunfire Red\u201d color stands out, and uses a three-layer paint process to achieve a kind of sparkling effect. It also uses real gold flakes, so you get a bit of added bling underneath the topcoat.<\/p>\n

The vehicle also comes in three flavors at launch. If the standard QX65 isn\u2019t quite sporty enough for you, there\u2019s an extra sporty \u201cSPORT\u201d version. It has a different, presumably more athletic, front grille 20-inch wheels, and gloss black interior accents. Alternatively, there\u2019s the slightly less \u201csporty\u201d but more refined \u201cAUTOGRAPH\u201d variant, which adds an extra inch to the rims, paints the roof black, and trims it all in satin chrome. You\u2019ll also see a good amount of wood on the inside of the luxury trim, which tends to be a good side. Finally, the entry-level model is called the \u201cLUXE\u201d edition. So even if you cheaped out, you can lie to your friends and tell them it\u2019s the most expensive one.<\/p>\n

Inside the cabin, you\u2019ll find a pair of 12.3-inch screens for both infotainment and driver\u2019s instruments. The OS is Google-based, with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay coming as standard. Wireless charging is also included.<\/p>\n

In practical terms, the luxury crossover has two rows with close to 36 cubic feet of storage capacity behind that second row. Flip the seats down, and the cargo room increases to 67.7 cubic feet. You also get access to Nissan\u2019s suite of driver aids, which is pretty excellent. It includes some pretty exceptional cameras, including one that allows you to \u201csee through\u201d the hood. Forward collision warning, blind spot warning, lane departure prevention, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams.<\/p>\n

Optional extras include smart rear-view mirrors, a 10.8-inch HUD, and ProPILOT assist Level 2.1 Self Driving (so hands off the wheel but pay attention). Though the Level 2 self driving system is only available on the top-tier Autograph trim.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s going on under the hood of the 2027 QX65?<\/h2>\n

Under the hood of the new QX65 is one of Nissan\u2019s I-4 engines. The two-liter inline-four is capable of producing up to 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque thanks to a bit of turbocharging.<\/p>\n

Infiniti has installed a variable compression turbo on its new SUV, which in simple terms adjusts itself depending on what the vehicle is doing at the time. So if you\u2019re getting the hammer down, it will up pressure accordingly. If you\u2019re cruising along on a highway listening to whatever dull podcast you\u2019re into right now, it will calm down a bit to save you some fuel.<\/p>\n

All of that power goes through a nine-speed automatic transmission, with Infiniti claiming it\u2019s geared for a sportier shift pattern than some of its peers. This is pretty good news, as I\u2019ve driven the Nissan Murano that this is essentially based on and that absolutely loved clinging on to gears.<\/p>\n

Intelligent all-wheel drive also comes as standard across all models. Obviously a QX65 isn\u2019t meant for any serious off-roading, but the ability to move all four wheels can come in handy pretty often. With a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds, it\u2019s also immensely practical. Especially if you need to haul something around.<\/p>\n

The 2027 Infiniti QX65 is expected to hit dealerships in early summer 2026. Infiniti has set the starting MSRP at just under $54,000 for the \u201cLuxe\u201d trim. The Sport trim comes in at $55,690, and the top-end \u201cAutograph\u201d edition will start at just under $62,600.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
