Not only that, but it’s clearly better than the 2025 model, which means you get a better vehicle for a lower price.

Not all OEMs have done this; many seem to be offering the same or a somewhat worse car, truck, or SUV for even more money these days. Toyota is giving you 22 more horsepower, bringing the RAV4 PHEV’s total up to 324, and a 10-mile increase on all-electric range. That’s on top of all of the other things that make the RAV4 the best-selling SUV in the US.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few decades, that’s solid reliability, great fuel economy, plenty of space for its size, reasonable towing ability, and an inoffensive interior. Basically, it’s the best all-rounder by a significant margin.

The 2026 version of Toyota’s RAV4 PHEV is now $3,000 cheaper than its predecessor if you opt for the base trim. That’s $41,000 for the Toyota RAV4 PHEV. Not only is this a bargain compared to previous RAV4s, but it’s a bit of an issue for everything else in the RAV4 PHEV’s class. The class leader, which already dominates sales, just got a whole lot cheaper and better.

For example, the RAV4 PHEV, which was already cheaper than the Nissan Rogue PHEV, now costs almost $4,500 less. As mentioned, you can nab a bottom trim

If you just bought a Nissan Rogue PHEV, look away now

Compared to the RAV4 PHEV, the Nissan Rogue PHEV looks like a pretty bad deal. Toyota’s SUV delivers significantly more horsepower, putting up 324, compared to the Rogue’s 248. The same applies to all-electric range, the RAV4’s battery will take you 52 miles, in the Nissan, you’ll be out of charge in just 38.

When you’re charging those batteries, the RAV4 can use DC fast charging, so you can go from 10 to 80% in as little as half an hour. The Rogue uses 240 volt architecture, so topping up that battery will take you over seven hours.

The Nissan does offer a third row, but you’re essentially sacrificing all of your cargo space for that. Put those seats down, and the 30.8 cubic feet you get in the rogue is significantly less than the 37.6 offered in the RAV4 PHEV. The RAV4 is still bigger with all seats down, offering close to 70 cubic feet, while the Rogue PHEV offers less than 65.

So the one thing the Rogue PHEV has over the RAV4 isn’t all that. The Nissan Rogue has gotten pelters for years, with people essentially seeing it as a rebadged Mitsubishi Outlander. There’s a lot to this argument, and maybe Toyota turning the gap between the two SUVs into a chasm will be the spark Nissan needs to do something meaningful with the Rogue.

The only silver lining in all of this is, Toyota RAV4s of all flavors are pretty hard to get. They don’t stay on the lot for long. So if you need a new vehicle right now, there’s a chance you’ll be paying over sticker price for a RAV4, even if you do find one listed near you. So the Nissan Rogue is a viable alternative, as are these other vehicles.

Toyota has released specs and pricing details for the 2026 RAV4 PHEV, and unlike seemingly every other vehicle currently for …

[33,3
14
post-4674","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-hybrids","category-news","tag-toyota","resize-featured-image
["GET
